Better Antiquarian
Tired of your poor antiquarian being stuck in a fixed location, only useful in gold missions?
Always wondered why Antiquarian's ability, which is steam-based, only affects a single target?
Now your Antiquarian is more powerful than ever (and still balanced)!
⚠️ **WARNING**
**Please be sure to create a backup file! **

🚫 Compatibility Notes
This mod is **not compatible** with mods that modify the following files:
- `base_effects.json`
- `antiquarian.info.darkest`
- `base_buffs.json`
(Unless you know how to add these to the file manually)
---
📥 Installation method
- Unzip the file.
- Copy all three folders.
- Paste it into your Darkest Dungeon installation directory (for example: `C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Darkest Dungeon`).
- Select "Yes" and replace (it is recommended to back up the original file first).

✨ Detailed explanation of module functions
🏃♀️ **can be moved**
Now I don’t have such a headache when I get pulled!
- **Moving Range**: Can move 3 spaces backward and 2 spaces forward.
😱 **Get down! **
No more worrying about being disrupted by position changes!
- **Effect**: Now when knocked back, it will move back 2 spaces instead of 1 space.
💪 **Enhanced Steam**
Now it's really "enhanced"!
- **Effect**: Heals **all allies** and provides them with **protection** effect, lasting 2 rounds.
- Level 1: Heal 1-1, provide 6% protection.
- Level 2: Heal 1-2, provide 6% protection.
- Level 3: Heal 1-2, provide 8% protection.
- Level 4: Heal 2-2, provide 8% protection.
- Level 5: Heal 2-3, provide 8% protection.
☁️ **Corruption Steam**
Why can steam only affect one target? This question has been bothering me!
- **Effect**: Now targets **all enemies**, dealing damage and applying **Corruption** and **Corruption Debuff** effects.
- Detailed values increase with skill level, including hit rate, damage modification, corrosion damage and corrosion resistance reduction effects.
✨ **Glitter**
Because blinding is not enough!
- **Effect**: In addition to the original blinding effect, a **stun** effect is added.
- The stun probability increases with skill level: 70% → 80% → 90% → 100% → 110%.

🔧 Manual installation guide (recommended)
Since there will be a large number of updates to the "Scarlet Palace" DLC, automatic installation will sometimes overwrite the module, so it is recommended to modify the file manually.
**Notepad++ is recommended**
**Again: please create a backup file! **
- **Download the manual installation file and unzip it. **
- The `base_buffs.json` and `antiquarian.info.darkest` files in the manual download package are for reference only, do not copy and paste directly.
- **Modify `base_effects.json`**
a. Use Notepad++ to open the `base_effects.json` file you downloaded.
b. Copy all contents within the file.
c. Use Notepad++ to open `base_effects.json` in the game installation directory (path such as: `...\Darkest Dungeon\Effects`).
d. Press `Ctrl+F` to search for "Antiquarian".
e. Find "//Antiquarian Effects".
f. Create a blank line between "//------------------------" and "//Antiq Blight 1".
g. Paste the copied content into this empty line.
h. Delete the 5 "effect:.namexxxx" within the "//Antiq Blight 1" and "Antiq Blight Debuff" sections (replacing the original effect with my effect).
i. Save the file.
- **Modify `antiquarian.info.darkest`**
a. Use Notepad++ to open `antiquarian.info.darkest` in the game installation directory (path: `...\Darkest Dungeon\Heroes\Antiquarian`).
b. Find "combat_skill:.id "festering_vapours"".
c. Scroll right to find ".launch 4321.target 1234".
d. Add "~" before "target" so that it becomes ".target ~1234".
e. Find "cower", scroll right to find "move 1 0", and change it to "move 2 0". Modify the movement values of all 5 "cower"s.
f. Find “fortifying vapors”, find “.launch 4321.target @1234”, and change the target to “.target ~@1234”.
g. Still in the …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
