About this mod Machine translation

This is a complete revamp of CK3's vassal mechanics, which has been in development for over 4 years, with a focus on increasing character interactivity and new game mechanics.

Version 4.0 is now released! (Full changelog)

Modular experience

The more interactive vassals currently add over 35 unique features that you can enable or disable within the game rules to your liking!

Outer War Remastered

Vassals can now be summoned to join their lord's wars based on a variety of factors:

  • If they would lose any titles in the war
  • if their lord is claiming their rights
  • If their territory borders hostile territory

Vassals can refuse to join the war, or even prevent their own vassals from joining, greatly weakening the military power of a territory.

However, if they accept the call, they gain varying amounts of War Fatigue based on their reason for joining.

civil war remade

At the start of a civil war, each vassal in the realm will now be asked to choose a side, creating multiple factions of loyal and rebel factions fighting for supremacy.

Vassals can pledge allegiance to their lord and raise an army to defend the crown, declare neutrality, or join a rebellion.

During war, however, loyalties can change. Some vassals may choose to wait for the best time before taking action!

Extended vassal interaction

Intervene directly in a vassal's war, bribe a vassal to betray his lord, request military support from a vassal in exchange for a fish hook, conspire with allied vassals to form a faction, and more!

kingship

When a rebellion is underway, vassals can be persuaded to choose or change sides through the use of gold, reputation, hooks, prisoners, and alliances, which adds a new layer of internal politics to the game!

Oathbreaker

Lords can now choose to betray their lords during war, but once the battle is over, they will face severe punishment.

royal loyalists

Honorable lords can now actively support their lord's interests and protect them from internal threats by creating royal loyalists.

Remake Alliance

When a lord forms an alliance with their vassals, they can now summon each other to engage in internal and external wars, greatly increasing the value of vassal alliances.

However, allies are now affected by Alliance Fatigue, which increases pressure every time they are called into battle.

War customization

There are over 20 new game rules to shake up the balance of CK3!

Significantly reduce army size, increase the time required to replenish losses, increase militia's destructive power or resilience, modify vassal contracts, reduce knights' effectiveness, and more!

Guards

An alternative vassalage system. Vassals provide 75% less militia, but must now swear allegiance to their overlord's wars. When a ruler summons an army, it is an act of treason to refuse.

There are many more!

There are many more features waiting for you to experience in this mod! MIV expands on many of the core systems in CK3, adding new strategic depth to previously unexplored areas.

compatibility

This mod is save compatible, Ironman mode and achievement compatible, and is fully compatible with other mods, including other major revamps and full conversion mods.

MIV has been confirmed to be compatible with mods such as A Song of Ice and Fire, Throne in Exile, Eaglefall, The Old Throne, Shogun, Prince of Darkness, Aftermath, Guardians of Azeroth, and more!

Game rules can now be changed after the game has started. Open the game rules menu in settings to enable or disable selection in existing saves!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
