Crimson Browser & Mod Manager
🎮 **Crimson Browser & Mod Manager** is an independent save browser and mod management tool, specially built for "Crimson Desert".
---
✨ Tool functions
This tool is able to read `0.pamt` metadata, browse `.paz` file contents, preview common resource types, extract files, and rebuild supported mod folders or overlay VFS overlays without modifying the original archive file.
---
📋 System Requirements
- **Operating System**: Windows
- **Running environment**: Python 3.10 or later
- **Dependent libraries**: Contains the Python installation package for Tkinter, and the Python packages listed in `requirements.txt`
- **OPTIONAL COMPONENTS**:
- `vtk` for embedded 3D model viewer
- `vgmstream` for WEM audio preview
---
🚀 Installation and operation
- **Install Python 3.10+**.
- Open a terminal in the Crimson Browser folder.
- Run the command: `pip install -r requirements.txt`.
- (Optional) For WEM audio preview support, make sure the `tools/vgmstream-win64/vgmstream-cli.exe` file exists.
- Edit the `config.txt` file and set your game path and theme, for example:
```
archives_path=D:\Path\To\Crimson Desert
theme=dark
```
- Run the command: `python crimson_browser.py`.
---
🔧 First start
On first launch archive metadata is parsed and a fast cache is built. Subsequent launches will reuse this cache unless you click the **Refresh Cache** button.
---
⚙️ Current feature set
- **Browse and Search**: Supports search, filtering, sorting, and browsing of archived content with optional tree paths.
- **Fast Cache**: A persistent fast cache, archives only need to be parsed once unless refreshed manually.
- **File Preview**: Supports preview tabs for text, images, 3D models, videos, audio and hexadecimal data.
- **DDS Support**: Support for partially compressed DDS preview/extraction via `meta/0.pathc`.
- **Theme Switch**: Configurable light/dark mode, settings saved in `config.txt`.
- **File Extraction**: Can extract selected files or all filtered files, and display the progress and estimated completion time.
- **PAM/PAMLOD Extraction**: Automatically export OBJ resources when extracting PAM/PAMLOD files.
- **.paloc support**: Supports .paloc preview, JSON side file export and JSON re-import.
- **File Reimport**: Supports single file reimport as a rebuilt `mod_folder` package group override, or batch reimport from any loose folder tree.
- **Encryption Support**: Supports ChaCha20 decryption/re-encryption of protected entries.
- **Package Group Rebuild**: Supports full rebuild of affected package groups, and updates `0.pamt` and `meta/0.papgt`.
- **Dynamic Expansion**: When the replacement file exceeds the original space, a new 16-byte aligned `.paz` block is automatically created.
- **Mod Management Interface**: Used to manage `mods//files` sources, edit metadata, enable/disable mods, and order-based override priority.
- **Build Active Mods**: Combine enabled mods into a final overlay output, located in `mod_build/0036` and `mod_build/meta/0.papgt`.
- **Deploy to Game**: Deploys classic `mod_folder` overlays and final `mod_build` output, and creates a local `bak` backup.
- **Start Game**: Provides a button to start `bin64/CrimsonDesert.exe`.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
