Content Warning Visual Brief Kit

You have a working Content Warning mod in a local folder, and is asking for an icon, a README with images, and ideally a banner that makes the listing easy to understand in the community feed. This small planning kit provides reusable prompts and a pre-publish checklist for preparing those assets before touching the package manifest.

Plan three image tiers

Treat the listing as three separate visual jobs:

  • Icon: It must read clearly at thumbnail size. Prefer one bold subject, high contrast, a simple silhouette, and no fine text.
  • In-context screenshot: Show what the mod changes or enables. A layout mockup can help establish composition while the build is unstable, but replace it with a real in-game capture before the final release.
  • Banner: Use the wider canvas to communicate tone, such as horror, chaos, or cosmetic comedy, without obscuring the actual function of the mod.

Working in that order prevents spending time on a hero image before the small, high-visibility icon is usable.

Included templates

The visual-brief-templates.json file contains structured starting prompts for the icon, screenshot plan, and banner. Replace every bracketed placeholder with facts about your mod. The prompts deliberately ask for editable concepts rather than claiming to reproduce the game interface.

For rapid visual exploration, a prompt-based image tool can help establish composition before final asset production. Nano Banana 2 Lite is one independent third-party option for iterating on icon concepts, reference-based layouts, and banner drafts. It is unaffiliated with Google or DeepMind, and generated images should be treated as planning material rather than mod-accurate evidence.

Final checks

  • Export the icon at exactly 256 x 256 pixels.
  • Replace mockups with real captures wherever the image implies actual gameplay.
  • Confirm that screenshots match the current release.
  • Avoid small text and unsupported feature claims.
  • Preview the README's Markdown Preview tool.
  • Verify the package with the Manifest Validator before uploading.

AI-generated drafts will not perfectly match in-game rendering, lighting, UI, or the specific behavior of a mod. Use them to settle composition and mood, then finish with accurate captures and manually reviewed artwork.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
