Disclaimer: The author of this mod has no preference for any religion and does not want to force you to practice any particular religion. The purpose of this mod is to add some fun and variety to the game.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This mod requires Tomatekh's Historical Religion Mode to work.
Also, the mod will be available on Steam once I figure out how to upload it there. ;
-pOkay! Welcome to my first civilization mode. Please bear with me, modding is completely new to me and I'm just trying my best to share what I've done so far.
Tomatekh did an excellent job adding historical religions to Civilization VI. I decided to follow his path and I created a small mod that provides people in the game with dozens of new religions, beliefs, and other weird stuff. This mod may add more religions in the future, and I'll consider any reasonable suggestions (especially if religion names, icons and descriptions are included... Benji is a bit lazy with research!).
Install
Download the mod and extract it to:
\Documents\My Games\Civilization VI by Sid Meier\Mods
(or whatever mod folder you are using)
Configuration file
Like Tomatekh's mod (btw, thank you very much for your help), this mod contains a configuration file ("ZRK_Config.sql"). It is located in the main folder. You can use this to switch between the different kinds of religions available in the game:
Additional Historical Religions: In Game
Add some pre-modern religion. These were religions that Tomatekh had not thought of.
Edit the individual values to 0 to disable these religions.
Modern beliefs:
Added modern era religions, beliefs and other cults. This includes revivals of ancient religions (like Asatru or Hetanism), cults like Scientology, to Wicca and Satanism. Now you'll be able to make Ghandi truly evil.
Edit the individual values to 0 to disable these religions.
Strange religion:
Added religions, most of which are satirical or too weird to be considered religions. Yes, bacon is a thing. Crazy?
Edit the individual values to 0 to disable these religions.
Literary, Television and Film Religion:
Religion drawn from fiction. Had to find a name for some of them, but hopefully you'll find something interesting in there.
Edit the individual values to 0 to disable these religions.
Video Game Religion:
Civilization is the best planning game ever made, and some other games will surpass it. Some denominations have been created for the purpose of this mod. Please feel free to correct me if needed.
Edit the individual values to 0 to disable these religions.
Final Fantasy XIV Religion:
The original reason why I created this mod. My hopes of creating an Eorzean civilization are gone (don't have enough skills to do that), but at least I can play with different religions in the game.
Edit the individual values to 0 to disable these religions.
Randomized religion:
Disabled by default, this removes all leaders' favorite religions. This means that the AI can choose any religious belief. After several tests, Japan decided to go with the invisible pink unicorn, while the Papal States chose... Puata Tupuna.
Edit the single value to 1 to randomize religion.
limit
As I said above, this mod requires Tomatekh's mod to work. Additionally, "My" religion will appear behind Tomatekh's custom religion icon in the religion selection screen. Sorry, nothing can be done about it. Maybe if we could order religion in another way through Firaxis' solution.
Haven't tested my mod with other religious mods. Not sure it will work. I'm not planning on making the mod compatible with every religious mod on the market, but I've spoken with Tomatekh and our mods should be able to coexist without any issues, even in the future.
Thanks for reading all of this, thanks to Tomatekh for the amazing help, and thanks to Royga for creating the original Strange Religions Mod on Civilization V... and h …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
