About this mod Machine translation

Yorkshire Yorkshire civilization

This civilization is based on my hometown in Yorkshire, England. Anyone from England will recognize that this is probably one of the most demeaning places of arrogance, so I think it should be given full civility. Civilization includes:

Unique Ability: "Where's the Tricky Brass" - +1 gold from mines, quarries, farms, ranches and fishing boats, named after a famous Yorkshire expression.

Unique Unit: Tyke - A low-powered unit that starts the game, generates Writer/Artist/Musician points from its heroism, and is named after Yorkshire slang.

Unique Improvement: Ilkla Moor - Adds +1 Culture, Housing and Food to the grass brick named after the traditional Yorkshire song Ilkley Moor.

Leader: Paulinus, first bishop of York - 2 offered

Foley York Minster - A religious building in the center of the city where the game starts, but guaranteed early pantheons and religions

Killing a Tek unit increases Faith equal to half the opponent's strength.

Still to do:

  • Find some way to make it so the Ilkla Moor improvement has to be adjacent to another Ilkla Moor component
  • Once I have the base mod fully working, plan on having four leaders, each of which will have specific abilities and increase different yield and/or GPP generated kills for Tek units.

This civ is based on my home county of Yorkshire in England. Anyone from England will recognize that as probably one of the most self-deprecatingly arrogant places around and so I figured it deserved a full civ. The civ includes:

Unique Ability: "Where There's Muck There's Brass" - +1 gold to mines, quarries, farms, pastures and fishing boats, named after a famous Yorkshire expression.

Unique Unit: The Tyke - a start-of-game low powered unit that generates writer/artist/musician points from its heroics, named after the slang for a Yorkshire person.

Unique Improvement: Ilkla Moor - adds +1 culture, housing and food to grass tiles without features, named after Ilkley Moor, from a traditional Yorkshire song.

Leader: Paulinus, First Bishop of York - provides 2 benefits

York Minster - a start-of-game city center religious building all but guaranteeing early pantheon and religion

Kills with the Tyke unit add faith equal to half the opponent's strength.

Still to do:

  • Find some way of making it so Ilkla Moor improvements must be adjacent to another Ilkla Moor component
  • Four more leaders are planned once I have the basic mod fully working, each will have a specific ability and add different yield and/or GPP generation to the Tyke unit's kills.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
