Tomatekh's Historical Religions Historical Religions
Tomatekh's Historical Religions Historical Religions
This mod adds additional historical (pre-modern and indigenous) religions to the base game. Leaders who previously lacked a religious preference (Aztec, Greek, etc.) are updated to choose the appropriate historical religion. Also included are several additional universal icons, and updated Catholic and Orthodox symbols.
Notice:
- The mod has been fully updated and works with Rise and Fall and/or the base game.
- The Strategy View pressure icon used in the Religion lens is currently disabled and will be implemented at a later date.
Install:
Extract the "Historical Religion of Tomatekh" mod folder into your Civilization VI mod directory:
~Documents/My Games/Sid Meier’s Civilization VI/Mods
Or subscribe to the mod on Steam Workshop.
If you have the HR version in your Mods folder, it will overwrite the version downloaded from Steam. This may be useful if you need to continue saving with a previous version; however, generally you should delete the version in your Mods folder before subscribing to Steam.
Configuration file:
The mod includes a configuration table at the top of the "HR_Religions_Config.sql" file which can be used to toggle included denomination packages and/or enable a "light" version of the mod.
If you install the mod in the "Mods" folder, it will be found in:
~Documents / My Games / Civilization VI by Sid Meier / Mods
On PC, the default Steam mod folder is:
C:\ Program Files(x86)\ Steam \ steamapps \ workshop \ content \ 289070 \
Historical Religions are usually found in the folder:
〜\ 870850597 \
However, these folders vary based on my personal installation setup.
NOTE: If using the mod in multiplayer, all players need to have the same settings in the config file.
Denomination package:
Open the configuration file and edit the individual value entries to 1 or 0 to add/remove denominations of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam and Protestantism and the Andean, Baltic, Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Mesoamerican, Mesopotamian, Polynesian, Uralic and Yoruba religions. By default, all packages are turned on.
Light of History and Religion:
Too much religion? Edit the included config file to enable the "light" version of the mod; historical religions will only represent officially included civilizations with a minimum of new religions.
Add support for Modded Civs:
This mod adds additional historical (pre-modern and indigenous) religions to the base game. Leaders previously lacking a religious preference (Aztec, Greece, etc.) are updated to prefer an appropriate historical religion. Several additional generic icons are also included and the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox symbols have been updated.
Note:
- The mod is fully updated to work with both Rise and Fall and/or the base game.
- The strategic view pressure icons used in the religion lens are currently disabled and will be implemented at a later date.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
