Research Reminder Research Reminder
Current version: 1.0
Research Reminder is a simple quality of life mode that prevents you from wasting valuable science and culture. It reminds you when you reach the halfway point (or 40% in China) by popping up the Research or Citizens side panels to convert research into undriven technology and citizens.
This mode will not trigger technologies and citizens that have been upgraded, nor will it trigger technologies and citizens that cannot be upgraded, namely pottery, mining, animal husbandry, laws and regulations, and future technology.
Install
Just unzip to the mod folder, even if everything looks like this:
\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Mods\Research Reminder\[3 files]
Don't forget to restart Civilization and enable the mod in the main menu under Additional Content. When you start a new game the mod will be active (for games without the mod it will not work).
In-game options
Two options have been added to Research Reminder. Click the menu icon in the upper right corner of the World Tracker (the panel that displays the technologies and cities currently being researched) to find them. See screenshot below.
Pops up the entire tech/civic tree. By default, Research Reminder will remind you to toggle research on the current technology or Civic by popping up the left sidebar. Check this option to pop out the entire tree.
Alert one turn before 50%. By default, the research reminder pop-up sidebar only has half of the current technology or Civic being researched (or 40% of China). This means that the technology/civic will be completed as soon as a later eureka or inspiration occurs. However, this will waste a small amount of research (half a turn on average). Check this option to pop up the sidebar before the halfway point. This will ensure that no research is wasted. However, you must go back manually to complete the final round of research later.
Option settings will remain unchanged when saving and reloading the game, but will be reset to default values (all unchecked) when starting a new game. (But the default can be easily changed by editing two lines in Research Reminder.lua, see the comments in that file.)
compatibility
Research Alerts does not replace or change any existing files or settings, so it should be compatible with almost any other mod.
Permission to reuse
I'm releasing Research Reminder as a mod component, so feel free to use it in any other mod. But when you do, trust me.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
