About this mod Machine translation

Regicide ++

Adds Regicide game mode from Civilization III along with various options.

IMPORTANT: It is highly recommended that you use AI mods in addition to this mod. This mod works better than vanilla AI with AI+ (mod, like Artificially Intelligent (892288641)).

Also important: this mod has not been tested with multiplayer, but in theory it should work. It would be great if someone with some time on their hands could report back to me their experience using Regicide in multiple situations and if there are any bugs or anything.

Overview:

  • King Unit: This unit is spawned at the beginning of the game along with your other units (Fighters and Settlers). It has a base attack of 38, however takes a -20 penalty when attacking. It has a movement of 3 and ignores the movement penalties of rivers and control areas, making it good at escaping.
  • Death of King Unit: When your assigned King Unit dies, you will lose the game. All cities you own and all units you own are completely destroyed, leaving you on the final game screen. If you kill the enemy's King Unit, they will also be destroyed this way. Keeping King units safe is necessary, especially as times pass. Around the Renaissance era, it wasn't uncommon for enemies to be able to kill your king in one hit, so be careful!

Setting options:

Regicide can only be activated from the advanced settings screen. Click Regicide Dropdown to activate it. Then you will find other available options:

  • Mass Suicide: You start the game with not one, but seven king units. When your last king's army is killed, your civilization is destroyed.
  • All For One: Only selectable when Mass Regicide is activated. The seven kills assigned to a king unit from the "Seven Kills" are now enough to destroy your empire: keep your units safe!
  • Morale: A unit adjacent to any unit you own is: heals for +10 health per turn, is able to fight at full strength when taking damage, and is able to cause enemy units to retreat during offensive attacks.

This mod is still a WIP, but I decided to release it since all the content for the original Regicide game mode is complete. Future additions to this model may include:

  • Selection of government leaders (e.g. chief, president, chairman, dictator, etc.)
  • Special bonuses for government leaders
  • More personalized leaders (e.g. United States King Unit called Theodore Roosevelt and wearing a top hat like Lincoln
  • Ability to choose the exact number of kings you spawn (not just 1 or 7)

These increases are not guaranteed. Don't be surprised if something disappears from this list.

It has a movement of 3, and ignores both river and zone of control movement penalties, making it good at running away.
  • The Death of a King Unit: When the King unit you are assigned dies, you lose the game. All cities you own and all units you own are completely destroyed, leaving you at the end game screen. If you kill an enemies King Unit, they too are destroyed this way. It is imperative to keep your King unit safe, especially as the eras go by. Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
