More Autosaves More Saves
A simple mode in the main options menu that allows you to keep up to 1000 autosaves instead of the vanilla limit of 10. Please note that when you create a new game, all autosaves will still be deleted!
Because this will make changes to the main menu, packaged mods cannot currently be selected from the Extras menu.
Install
- Locate the main Civ 6 installation folder. On a PC, it's usually located in one of the following locations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sid Meier's Civilization VI
C:\Program Files\Sid Meier's Civilization VI
- Back up the existing Options.lua file! Find it here:
[Path to previous step]\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Assets\UI\Options.lua
- Replace the existing Options.lua file with the file in the downloaded zip archive.
- Restart Civilization VI. Go to Game Options in the main menu and select as many autosaves as you want. See screenshot below.
A trivial mod of the main options menu that lets you keep up to 1000 autosaves instead of the vanilla limit of 10. Note that all autosaves will still be deleted when you create a new game!
Since this makes changes to the main menu, it is currently not possible to make a packaged mod out of this that can be selected from the Additional Content menu.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
