Make notes
Ballista
This is converted from Civ 5. You can see how the converted Civ 5 animation is connected in Ballista.ast. I replaced the model combining different Civ 6 meshes with the original human operator.
See how the flaming arrow attack works by looking at ATTACK_A under m_Timelines and FX_Ballista_Fire_Trail.ast and FX_Ballista_Arrow_Trail.ast with rescaled visuals.
Infantry Companion
Custom mesh helmet, MacedonHelm_A.ast. Hoplite shield for several reskins (MacedonShield_*.ast files). Macedon_ArmorA.ast and Macedon_Sarissa.ast are just reskins.
Persian warship
This is just a remix of Quadrireme but using metal and gloss to make the golden eagle logo look metallic.
Cataphract
It's all made from base game parts, with the exception of the re-equipment of the Mamluk armor, and the use of Tints to make it more reproducible.
Production Notes
Ballista
This was converted from Civ 5. You can see how the converted Civ 5 animations are hooked up in Ballista.ast. I replaced the original human operators with models made by combining different Civ 6 meshes.
To see how the flaming arrow attack was made by looking at ATTACK_A under m_Timelines as well as FX_Ballista_Fire_Trail.ast and FX_Ballista_Arrow_Trail.ast for the rescaled visual FX.
Pezhetairos
A custom mesh for the helmet, MacedonHelm_A.ast. Several reskins of the Hoplite shield (the MacedonShield_*.ast files). Macedon_ArmorA.ast and Macedon_Sarissa.ast are just reskins.
Persian Warship
This is just a reskin of the Quadrireme but uses the Metalness and Gloss to make the golden eagle emblem look metallic and shiny.
Cataphract
This was all just made from base game parts apart from a reskin of the Mamluk armor to make more of it recolour-able using Tints.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
