Icyfire's Slavery Mod slave unit

This is my first mod that adds Slave Units to the game (as if there aren't enough mods that do that already!).

What exactly is inside this mod:

  • Slave units. It has 5 architect fees and 2 miracle rush fees. Over time, these staggering sprint expenses become less effective. In the industrial age, they rarely helped create miracles. When a subordinate unit is purchased, it will occupy a subordinate resource. They need to purchase these slave resources. Slaves could only be purchased with gold. They cannot be built using production.
  • Slave resources. It offers 4 facilities that can only be obtained by conquering cities or killing enemy civilian units such as apostles, missionaries, slaves and workers. Settlers do not give resources to slaves upon capture, but continue to be given to settlers. Slave resources can also be obtained through trading with other civilizations.
  • The city-state of Dakar. An economic city-state that provides +2 builder cost to its overlord's slaves.

-Rebellion. There is a small chance that a single slave unit will turn into a savage warrior at the end of each turn. Each slave unit in your empire is less likely to turn into a barbarian warrior.

-abolition. While researching industrialization, players have the ability to build abolition projects. If you build this project, every slave unit in your empire will be disbanded, and you may not build more slave units for the rest of the game. Any subordinate units (units only, subordinate resources do not have this effect) add 1 population to their closest city. All cities in your empire will also receive +5% production.

Known errors:

  • Slave resources don't update their quantity when traded (not sure if this helps, seems like an issue only articles can fix)
  • Text icons cannot be used, so dependent resources are displayed as [ICON_SLAVE]

-Slaves appear in the Great Person Screen

-Slaves spawn in the capital when purchased (can still be moved using the Move to City action)

I will add more stuff to this mod over time. Now I'm debating adding another city-state.

Steam Link:

This is my first mod, something that adds Slave Units to the game(As if there weren't already enough mods that do that! ).

What exactly is inside this mod:

-The Slave unit. It has 5 builder charges and 2 wonder rush charges. These wonder rush charges get less effective as time goes on. By the industrial era they do very little to aid in the production of wonders. Slave units, when purchased, consume one slave resource. They require these slave resources to be purchased. Slaves can ONLY be bought with gold. They cannot be built using production.

-The Slave resource. It provides 4 amenities and can only obtained by conquering cities or by killing enemy civilian units like Apostles, Missionaries, Slaves, and Workers. Settlers do NOT give yield the slave resource on capture and instead continue to give a settler. The slave resource can also be obtained by trading with other civilizations.

-The Dakar city-state. An economic city-state that gives +2 builder charges to slaves of its suzerain.

-Rebellion. At the end of each turn, there is a small chance for a single slave unit to turn into a barbarian warrior. There is an even smaller chance that every slave unit in your empire will turn into a barbarian warrior.

-Abolition. Upon researching Industrialization, players have the ability to build the abolition project. Should this project be built, every slave unit in your empire will be disbanded, and you may not build any more slave units for the rest of the game. Any slave units(and units only, the slave resource does not have this effect) add 1 population to the city that they are closest to. All cities in your empire also gain +5% production.

KNOWN BUGS:

  • Slave resource does not update its count when being traded(Not sure if this can be helped or not, seems like a problem only firaxis can fix)

-Can't use Text Icons, so the slave resource sho …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
