For Modders, Automatic CORE Install Assets/Artdefs
I don't like modifying core files, but since now some assets and artdefs have to be changed in Core, I made a small tool for it (window only for now)
I say for modders, but if you want to organize your downloads of mods that change core files, just use this tool.
Extract and place this directory "Mods_Custom_Assets" here:
<Where is your steam library located? >\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\
Next add the module folder (you can name it if you want) - I added the Anno Domini example:
For modders, you need to modify Install (and uninstall) and add files:
- For installation you need to add two lines to each file.
- Change the filename and path if necessary (do not remove the "..\" subpath)
- For uninstallation you must use the same name and path as for installation (one line for uninstallation)
Usage: I recommend putting the "Mods_Custom_Assets" directory in your mod with no files in it (don't copy the originals) and your mods directories with install, uninstall and files
For end users: they extract, place "Mods_Custom_Assets" in "<Where is your steam library?>\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\"
and use install or uninstall.
Any questions or improvements to this tool, please be my guest.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
