Better Tech Tree Better Skill Tree

illustrate

Show more in Tech and Civics Trees. Added ~100 new unique icons:

  • Eureka Boost (*) - technology icon in blue circle,
  • Inspiration Boost (*) - Citizen icon in a pink circle,
  • Resource harvesting - resource icon in a red circle,
  • Increased production bonus (**) - Improvement icon in green dome,
  • Extra Spies - Spy icon in the green square,
  • Tourism changes - Tourism icons in the green square

(*) Eureka and inspiration boosts are used not only to boost technologies/citizens, but also buildings, areas, units, improvements and resources, which are required for boosting (e.g. owning x units or owning x buildings).

(**) Also shows unique improvements, but only if you play as a civilization that has it.

Works with vanilla game and Rise & Fall expansion. All languages supported.

Important tips

  • This MOD will not change any original game files.
  • This mod does not change technology nor any dependencies between citizens. This is a pure UI mod. The slight difference you see on the screenshot is from another mod of mine, Real Tech Tree, which does change the dependencies and improves the percentages.

BTT added about 100 new icons for trees, and in 3 cases they didn't fit into the node graph at all. Civics Tree supports larger nodes, but using it requires changing the original file, which I don't want to do. TechTree simply doesn't support larger nodes and would require even greater rework.

  • CQUI, HBCOI. Working with CQUI, but for unknown reasons the government icon is displayed twice. This does not happen with other mods that modify the tree (i.e. HBCOI), and may have some relationship to the changes made by CQUI. See also p. 1. Please do not report this issue, but if by any chance you know why these icons are doubled, please drop me a thread.

Description

Shows more info in Tech and Civics Trees. Adds ~100 new unique icons for:

  • Resource harvests - resource icon in a red circle,

  • Additional spies - a spy icon in a green square,

(*) The eureka and inspiration boosts are shown not only for boosting techs/civics, but also for buildings, districts, units, improvements and resources that are needed for a boost (e.g. have x units or have x buildings).

(**) Unique improvements are also shown, but only if you play a civ that has it.

Works with vanilla game and Rise & Fall expansion. Supports all languages.

Important Notes

  • This mod does not change any original game files.
  • This mod does not change technologies nor civics nor any dependencies between them. It is pure UI mod. The little differences you see on the screenshots are from my other mod, Real Tech Tree, which does change dependencies and boosts’ percentage.
  • BTT adds ~100 new icons to the trees, and in 3 cases they simply do not fit into the node graphics. The Civics Tree supports bigger nodes but the usage of that would require changes of the original file, which I didn't want to do. The TechTree doesn't support bigger nodes at all and it would require even a bigger re-work.
  • CQUI, HBCOI. Works with CQUI, but for reasons unknown the government icons are displayed twice. This doesn't happen with other mods that modify the trees (i.e. HBCOI) and is probably somehow related to changes done by CQUI. See also p. 1. Please do not report that issue, but give me a post if you'd know by chance why those icons are doubled.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
