Anglo-Saxon Civilization
Anglo-Saxon England under Alfred the Great:
Agenda: King of Scholars - Friendly to civilizations ahead of him in [ICON_Science] science. Don't like [ICON_Science]'s lack of regressive civilization. Always tried to maintain a large standing army. Respect other civilizations with large armies.
Leadership Trait: The Last King - Units that start movement in the city center or camp area have +2 [ICON_Movement] movement. Build campus areas in half the time. Ancient Walls grant +1 [ICON_Gold] Gold and +1 [ICON_Production] Production. While researching the Bronze Working Technique, the Fyrdsman unique unit was obtained.
Civilization Trait: Anglo-Saxon Chronicles - Gain a second unit every time you train a unique unit. +7 [ICON_Strength] Combat strength when attacking city-states.
Unique Building: Hall of Simulation - Like the monument it replaces, the Hall of Simulation grants +2 [ICON_Culture] cultural output. Additionally, it provides +1 facilities and reduces production costs by 50%.
Unique Unit: Fyrdsman - An Anglo-Saxon unique Classical Era unit that replaces the Spearman. Gain +5 [ICON_Strength] combat strength when fighting in or near its home area. For each age except Ancient, its combat strength increases by +5 [ICON_Strength].
Unique Unit: Huscarl - An Anglo-Saxon unique medieval era unit. Gain +5 [ICON_Strength] combat strength when fighting in or near its home area.
The simulation lobby has its own icon. Unit flags, civilization icons, and leader arts will appear when abilities appear. Currently, Fyrdsman uses Hoplite, Huscarl uses Berserker, and the leader is Harald. I'm currently using an icon for England.
The intention was to add a Mercian leader and a Northumbrian leader in later additions.

Leader Trait: The Last King - Units beginning their movement in a City Centre or Encampment District have +2 [ICON_Movement] Movement. Builds Campus districts in half the time. Ancient Walls grant +1 [ICON_Gold] Gold and +1 [ICON_Production] Production. Gains the Fyrdsman unique unit when the Bronze Working Tech is researched.
Civilization Trait: The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle - Receive a second unit each time you train a unique unit. +7 [ICON_Strength] Combat Strength when attacking city-states.
Unique Building: Moot Hall - Like the Monument which it replaces, the Moot Hall grants +2 [ICON_Culture] culture output. In addition, it provides +1 Amenities and is 50% less costly to produce.
Unique Unit: Fyrdsman - Anglo-Saxon unique Classical era unit which replaces the Spearman. Gains +5 [ICON_Strength] Combat Strength when fighting in or adjacent to its home territory. Its Combat Strength increases by +5 [ICON_Strength] for every era beyond Ancient.
Unique Unit: Huscarl - Anglo-Saxon unique Medieval era unit. Gains +5 [ICON_Strength] Combat Strength when fighting in or adjacent to its home territory.
The Moot Hall has its own icon. Unit Flags, Civ Icon, Leader Art will come when the capability arises. For now Fyrdsman uses Hoplite, Huscarl uses Berserker, and leader is Harald. I am using England's icon for now.
The intention is to add a Mercian leader and a Northumbrian leader in later additions.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
