Taskmaster

B-level Marvel villains often fight the Avengers, Captain America, Spider-Man, Deadpool, and others.

He has a simple ability: photographic reflexes, which allow him to replicate any body movement he sees within a few seconds. He has used this talent throughout his career to collect combat skills and superhuman actions.

The character model itself is from a gaming marvel contest winner, so I'm not convinced by the quality of the model. What I did was re-rigged the character to work with Resident Evil 2's standard skeleton. I also integrated the work into his textures properly to work with the game's shaders.

  • This mod will make the default leon head invisible, as it is necessary to hide his head so as not to overlap with the Taskmaster's head. If you switch back to any other costume while Taskmaster is installed, you will be playing with Leon, headless and with his hair floating in the air. lol. If you plan on playing as leon again, just uninstall the mod.
  • There are some minor normal and specular mapping issues, but they are minor and don't necessarily take away from the experience. This is something I can clean up in the future.
  • The original Taskmaster model was large and had different proportions than the character models used in the game. I did what I could to make my arms smaller, but I couldn't cheat on the finger size without making my hands look like raisins. There are some minor issues with the fingers for this reason, but you won't see them unless you really try to look for them.

Extra stuff:

  • Using Trainer in the mod manager's menu will allow you to openly swap characters for any mode. If you want to use Taskamster in any of the extra modes, just swap the character you want to replace with LEON via the trainer function (after installing the taskmaster mod of course)

BUGS:

  • I found a fourth survivor/a bug in the tofu mini-game/and a "no time to mourn" scenario. If you use the Taskmaster in any of these modes, in the control room in the basement (where you meet William Birkin for the first time) - you won't be able to get through the door. It will stop the game instead of freezing it, but you'll be stuck. I don't know why this is happening, but it's a bug I can look into in the future.

This only happens in the THOSE scenario because the LOCATION is in the character's path. All other scenarios and story-based gameplay work well.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
