Berry Bury Buddies (WIP)

Steam co-op for Berry Bury Berry, for one to four players.

Berry Bury Buddies adds a Multiplayer button to the game's main menu. Host a lobby, invite Steam friends, or let players find a public lobby or join with its room code. The host chooses the save before starting, and that host save supplies the shared world and progression for the session.

This is WIP package version 0.1.1. It contains plugin build 0.13.6; everyone in a lobby must run the same plugin build and game build. The host runs the main world simulation; the mod synchronizes other players, items, berries, NPCs, tools, economy, puzzles, growth, and round transitions. Busy worlds and different network conditions may still expose bugs or visual delays.

Getting started

• Install the mod and its required BepInExPack 5.4.2305 dependency through Mod Manager or r2modman. All players need this mod.
• Launch Berry Bury Berry through the mod manager and select Multiplayer.
• Choose Host Lobby or Join Lobby. Join through a Steam invitation, the public lobby browser, or a room code.
• The host selects a save, then starts the game when the lobby is ready. Guests play in the host's world; their own saves are not used as the lobby's world.

For a manual install, install BepInEx 5.4.2305 first and put the single BerryBuryBuddies.dll from this package in BerryBerryBerry/BepInEx/plugins. Remove older copies of this plugin before starting the game.

• Main menu

The new Multiplayer button sits with the game's native main-menu options.

• Multiplayer start menu

Choose Host Lobby to make a room or Join Lobby to look for one. Lobbies support up to four players.

• Host lobby

The lobby lists connected players and their roles. The host can invite Steam friends, copy the room code, choose public or private visibility, select the save, customize their character, and start when ready. The host's chosen save is the session's world.

• Join lobby

Browse public rooms by host name and player count, refresh the list, or enter a room code directly. Steam invites provide another way to join.

• Character customization

Each player has their own saved appearance: shirt and pants colors, hairstyles, and an optional fruit head based on the game's fruit art. Other players see your chosen character in the lobby's world.

• Buddies and player pickup

Friends appear as character bodies with their Steam names above them. Aim at another player's body and press the displayed pickup key to carry them; players can also be thrown like other carried objects.

• Spectating

When your character falls into the hole, you can watch an active player instead of immediately ending the night. Switch targets and choose first- or third-person view with the spectator controls. The first-person view follows the target's camera and equipped tool; spectating ends when the remaining players finish the round.

• Wake-up shop and shared decisions

The wake-up shop has full mouse sync: the other players' colored cursors move live on your screen. Players can see each other's upgrade selections and vote on the upgrade; matching choices are purchased, while a split vote randomly selects one of the chosen upgrades. A ready count above the normal Wake Up button shows how many connected players are ready for the next night.

Notes

• Steam must be running for lobby features.
• Use the same plugin build on every player's PC. The current protocol is bbb-coop-43-beta.
• If a session goes out of sync, save the BepInEx log and BerryBuryBerryCoop.events.log from each player when reporting it.
