Rebalance your compost bin

This mod introduces the "Rebalanced Compost Bin", providing a more balanced gameplay experience for crafting fertilizer, especially in the early game.

The original compost bin had several issues/limitations, which this mod fixes.

Problem: Compost bin too small/slow. Several boxes must be built to keep up. Only 2 fertilizers are produced before human intervention is required.

Solution: This bin has 300 slots and the conversion speed is configurable in the server settings to allow the user to find the right balance according to their needs. Just load everything into the bin and wait!

Problem: Conversion rate is too low. A single fertilizer costs 50 times thatch and 3 times shit.

Solution: This litter box only costs 10 times more per fertilizer produced, and larger litters produce more fertilizer (unlike the original litter box).

Issue: Players are unable to see progress in the original bin.

Solution: All 5 poop fusions can be done simultaneously and the user can see the progress.

Problem: Crop plots have very few fertilizer troughs, causing excessive checking/rechecking to keep them full.

Solution: The new rebalanced compost bin can create "big compost" with 10 times the fertilizer in it, using 10 times the regular fertilizer - allowing you to place 10 times more within your crop plot. Also allows for easier storage.

Issue: The original bin cannot be picked up and a placement collision occurs.

Solution: Rebalanced compost bins can be picked up, respecting server collision placement settings. (Add "bDisableStructurePlacementCollision=true" (without quotes) to the Game.ini file to disable all structure conflicts if you wish)

Problem: Stangers can access your fertilizer inventory and drop all shipments.

Solution: Only tribe members can open the rebalanced compost bin.

Problem: Finding/transferring thatch to the bin can become very annoying.

Solution: Compost bins can divert thatch from nearby friendly structures with the click of a button.

Problem: Running around to get the trash can can be annoying.

Solution: Players can use trash cans to collect nearby feces. NOTE: This feature consumes stamina and water (sweat) by default and can be modified or disabled in the configuration settings.

Problem: With large compost bins, it can be difficult to know if there is enough thatch inside the bin to convert all the manure in the bin into fertilizer.

Solution: If the bin needs more thatch to continue, the thatch icon will hover above the rebalanced compost bin. (can be disabled in server settings)

Version 3.0 patch notes!

New feature: Transfer thatch!

Clicking the "Transfer Thatch" button in the inventory will attempt to transfer thatch from a nearby friendly storage container (range around 50 bases).

New Feature: Pickup Poop!

Collecting poop is an exhausting chore. However, instead of manually collecting poop, you can now try using the "Pickup Poop" button to pick up nearby poop. By default, using this feature requires stamina and water (sweat) to simulate the work required to collect feces. The amount of stamina/water drained can be changed (or disabled) in the INI configuration settings.

New feature: Toggle automatic production!

You can now select a crafting recipe and click "Enable/Disable Auto Crafting" to toggle whether the recipe is automatically crafted when materials are present. For example, you can set "Large Fertilizer" to be made automatically so that small Fertalizers are always compressed to save space, etc.

When poop is present, it will attract more than just flies - small animated dragonflies and dung beetles will now appear as well. (Purely cosmetic, no in-game effects)

This mod is 100% clean and stackable. You can load it in any order, it won't modify any core files, it will just add new items to the game.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
