OMEROS - ReShade Series

*Sing, Muse, of the resourceful hero,
After destroying the holy citadel of Troy,
He has gone through a long journey,
I have seen many city-states and understood people’s minds,
On the vast sea, his soul suffered,
Struggled for his own and his companions' return home...*

✨ Module introduction

In the early days of the Assassin's Creed: Odyssey modding community, there were already some great ReShade configurations. Most of them attempt to replicate real lighting conditions, make simple color adjustments, or emulate the stylized but mixed reviews movie/comic 300. The OMEROS series is different. It contains six presets, each with unique color grading and additional effects ranging from subtle to noticeable, dramatically changing the look of the base game. Some presets may work better in specific scenarios, but all can be used throughout the game with no loss of visibility.

The mod name "Omeros" is a direct homage to Derek Walcott's epic of the same name. This is a modern retelling that combines elements of The Iliad and The Odyssey, set in Walcott's hometown of St. Lucia. If you are interested in Walcott, a lengthy interview with him is embedded at the end of the article.

**Reminder**: Enjoy these ReShade presets, but please read the entire thing here before asking questions or complaining.

🎨Default style

**Ithaka**

This is my daily go-to. Bright, bold blues and reds, while yellows and greens tend to be gray and desaturated. Cyan was adjusted to blue to get particularly deep skies and oceans. The whites are clear and bright, and the shades are warm and neutral. The days are clear and the nights are dark but passable.

**Circe**

Dramatic fairytale color grading. Warm, rich colors dominate. Strong contrasts are balanced by the application of ambient lighting and chromatic aberration effects. It may take a little getting used to, but I absolutely love it and I think you will too. Perfect for shooting monsters, sunsets, and storms at sea.

**Menelaos**

Warm and dry. If you like the color grading of the base game but wish yellow was used more restrained, you'll like this preset. Crimson sunsets, amber wheat fields, sunny days, smoky torchlight, dusty deserts, olive skin tones. There are very few fancy effects, but you can always add them yourself.

**Homecoming (Nostoi)**

Cool colors and high contrast. Bright marble blocks, burgundy seas. The light is adjusted to neutral, so the colors of dawn, dusk, flowers, and paintings are less saturated. Designed for photographing statues and buildings.

**Calypso**

Saturated, tropical, fruity, bold. Bright cyan oceans, soft highlights, cool nights, warm days. Skin tones may vary a little depending on weather and location, but the beach views are breathtaking.

**Phaiakian**

This is the original style of several other presets. Similar to Ithaca and Circe in some ways, but I liked it so much that I'm sharing it as is. Soft reds and blues are softened by cyan depth-of-field haze and ambient lighting (with lens effects) to create a unique image tone. Early morning and coastal scenes especially benefit from this preset.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
