AC Odyssey visual optimization package
✨ ** Take your "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" visual experience to the next level! ** ✨
🎨Module Introduction
Although Odyssey is a beautifully lit game, it (and other games that use similar lighting systems, such as Mass Effect: Andromeda, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Origins) sometimes push too hard with **auto-exposure** - especially when switching from bright to dark environments.
This mod aims to balance the visuals by:
- **Dynamic Tone Mapping**: Reduce areas that are too dark and too bright.
- **Color Correction**: Reduces slight yellow tint.
- **Brightness Sharpening**: Add a touch of clarity to the picture.
Just look at the screenshots and in-game settings to see the changes!

⚙️ Core functions
This mod includes a custom shader `upscale.hlsl` for full screen adjustments including sharpening and color modification.
Additionally, several fine-tunings have been made via **3Dmigoto**:
- **Softening God's Light** 🌅
- **Remove the lens splash effect during diving** 💧
- **Slight tone curve adjustment via custom shader `curve.hlsl`** 📈
---
📝 Update log (v1.1 - October 14, 2024)
- Further tweaks to tone mapping, adding **Contrast and Saturation**.
- New shader functions: **Remove specific special effects, reduce vignetting, and reduce fog density** (see the shader list below for details).

📥 Installation Guide
**Basic installation (recommended)**
- Copy all files in the compressed package to the **game installation directory** of "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" (that is, the folder containing `ACOdyssey.exe`).
**Optional installation (use official 3Dmigoto)**
If you don't want to use unverified DLL files, you can follow these steps:
- Download **3Dmigoto 1.3.16.0 (64-bit)** from GitHub.
- Place `d3d11.dll` and `d3dcompiler_46.dll` into the game installation directory.
- Copy the `ShaderCache`, `ShaderFixes` folders and `d3dx.ini` files in the compressed package of this module to the same directory.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**:
- If using `d3dx.ini` from the GitHub package, make sure to change `hunting=1` on line 248 to `hunting=0` (default is debug mode).
- Also, on line 19 add:
```
include = ShaderFixes\upscale.ini
include = ShaderFixes\curve.ini
```
---
✅ Verify installation
After running the game, the `ShaderFixes` folder will gradually generate `.bin` files (compiled by 3Dmigoto) according to the scene and level. If you see the following files, the installation is successful:
- `3f8c8e5bf6060d95-ps_replace.bin`
- `767d3b2f46009ef1-ps_replace.bin`
- `8b7c3744824a6cae-ps_replace.bin`
- `a78acd74fdfee1fa-ps.bin`
- `ad6b6e79d4880c69-ps.bin`
- `curve.hlsl`
- `upscale.hlsl`
---
🧪 Test environment
- Game version: "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" Gold Edition
- System: Windows 7 / Windows 10 (1903)
- Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti
---
📊 Performance impact
Tested at 1080p resolution and frame rate locked at 45 FPS (GTX 1050 Ti):
- **Unused Mods**: GPU usage ~95%
- **After using the mod**: GPU usage ~97%
- **Performance loss**: About **2%** increase in GPU usage, minimal impact.

🔧 Advanced Customization
Like to toss? You can adjust it yourself!
**Disable specific features**:
- To disable the curve shader, change `include = ShaderFixes\curve.ini` on line 20 to `;include = ShaderFixes\curve.ini` in `d3dx.ini`.
- To disable a specific tweak (e.g. Soften God Light), simply delete the corresponding `.txt` file (e.g. `3F8C8E5BF6060D95-PS.txt`) from the `ShaderFixes` folder, delete the corresponding `.bin` file if compiled, and restart the game.
**Shader List and Description**:
Most `*ps_replace.txt` files have a description of the function at the top:
- **3F8C8E5BF6060D95**: Softening God’s Light
- **767D3B2F46009EF1**: Remove lens flare A
- **8B7C3744824A6CAE**: Remove lens flare B
- **A78ACD74FDFEE1FA**: Remove the water droplet effect on the lens …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
