Gentlemen's Rarity

Perk cards get rarity tiers in A Gentlemen's Dispute: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary. Rarer cards are dealt less often and look the part. Built on the game's official mod loader. It adds no perks and changes no perk's effect.

Everyone in the lobby needs the same version installed.

The deal

Of the cards dealt, about 50% are Common, 28% Uncommon, 14% Rare, 6% Epic and 2% Legendary. The odds are tuned against the game's own hand rules, so a real hand matches these shares. In a lobby the host's tiers decide the deal.

How cards look

  • Every dealt card gets a halo, rim light, sheen and sparkles in its tier's colour, plus sparks and a chime when you grab it.
  • Epic and Legendary cards are dealt face-down and flip over; Legendary adds a screen flash.
  • Cards in your deck and held-perk pile show a tier gem.

Tiers it ships with

| Tier | Base game perks |

|---|---|

| Legendary | InvisibilityCloak, GoldenTicket, AvoidDeath |

| Epic | DuplicatePerk, MovementSpeedModifier, GiveRandomPerksAfterPlayedRounds, AddRandomStatusEffectOnMelee |

| Rare | ExtraTraps, BonusItems, ItemThief, BonusJump, ExtraThrowable, ExtraBullets, SpawnGrenadeFromGrenade, EmoteToSpawnItemPedestal, ExplosionsCreateMoveForce, BonusProjectiles |

| Uncommon / Common | everything else |

With Gentlemen's Perks installed, its perks are tiered too: Executioner is Epic; Power Slap, Martyr and Hoarder are Rare; its five Legendaries are Legendary. Perks from other mods are dealt like Common until you sort them.

Changing the tiers

Install Gentlemen's Mod Manager to get a PERK RARITY tab in its MODS page: drag any perk card onto a tier lane. Your tiers are saved in the game's mod data folder; RESET puts a page back to the shipped tiers. In a friend's lobby the tab shows the host's tiers, locked.

Manual install

  • Close the game.
  • Download this package (Manual Download) and unzip it anywhere.
  • Open the game's folder: in Steam, right-click A Gentlemen's Dispute > Manage > Browse local files.
  • Open the Mods folder there (create it if it is missing).
  • Copy the GentlemensRarity folder from the zip into Mods, so you end up with Mods\GentlemensRarity\mod.json. Copy the whole folder, not just what is inside it; the other files in the zip (manifest.json, README.md, icon.png) are not needed.
  • Start the game. The mod is loaded automatically.
  • Updating: delete the old Mods\GentlemensRarity folder first, then copy in the new one.
  • Uninstalling: delete Mods\GentlemensRarity.

Don't edit or add files inside the mod folder: the game checks the mod's files, and a changed folder will not match other players in a lobby.

Notes

  • The deal runs on the host; the card effects are visual only and play on every client.
  • Not everything has been tried with remote clients yet. Bug reports welcome:
  • All textures and sounds were made for this mod.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
