Gentlemen's Draft
Rounds-style card picking for A Gentlemen's Dispute, built on the game's official mod loader.
Everyone in the lobby needs the same version installed.
How the card phase changes
- After each round the players pick one at a time, and every picker gets a freshly rolled full set of cards.
- The round's winner does not pick.
- Whoever has won the fewest rounds picks first (ties are random), so the players who are behind choose before the leaders.
- Each pick has a 15 s limit. If time runs out, the game picks a card for you as usual.
- Nothing else changes: the same cards, the same perk rules, one perk per picker.
- If nobody is left to pick (everyone won, for example in a draw), or in chaos mode, the normal card phase runs.
Manual install
- Close the game.
- Download this package (Manual Download) and unzip it anywhere.
- Open the game's folder: in Steam, right-click A Gentlemen's Dispute > Manage > Browse local files.
- Open the Mods folder there (create it if it is missing).
- Copy the GentlemensDraft folder from the zip into Mods, so you end up with Mods\GentlemensDraft\mod.json. Copy the whole folder, not just what is inside it; the other files in the zip (manifest.json, README.md, icon.png) are not needed.
- Start the game. The mod is loaded automatically.
- Updating: delete the old Mods\GentlemensDraft folder first, then copy in the new one.
- Uninstalling: delete Mods\GentlemensDraft.
Don't edit or add files inside the mod folder: the game checks the mod's files, and a changed folder will not match other players in a lobby.
Notes
- The card phase takes longer than usual: the card table replays its intro for every picker, so with four players expect roughly 25 to 50 seconds.
- The draft runs on the host. During each turn only the current picker's cursor is shown on the table.
- Not everything has been tried with remote clients yet. Bug reports welcome:
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
