Tamed Creature XP - Level Up

BETA 0.1.0 — This is a new package. Back up your world and character before testing a beta mod.

Give your tamed Valheim creatures persistent XP, levels, rewards, and useful progression. Creatures that take part in combat can gain XP even when the player or another tame lands the final blow.

Why this mod exists

The idea came from taming a boss and wanting to level it, only to find that its boss status made that impossible. A friend and I wanted more gameplay around tamed creatures, so this mod gives them persistent XP, levels, and goals of their own.

Main features

• Persistent XP and levels stored on each tamed creature.
• Configurable XP rewards and cumulative level thresholds.
• Progression speed adapted to creature difficulty: common creatures level faster, powerful creatures level more slowly, and tamed bosses progress slowest.
• XP sharing for nearby tamed creatures that helped in combat.
• Configurable level-up healing and a short protective shield.
• A one-time in-game Legendary Companion achievement when one of your creatures reaches level 6.
• English and French configuration labels.

Beast Bond Cape

The Cape du lien bestial recipe unlocks when one of your tamed creatures reaches level 3.

• Crafted at the Black Forge.
• Recipe: 4 Black Metal, 4 Linen Thread, 4 Fine Wood, and 1 Wisp.
• Uses a custom appearance based on the Ashlands cape shape.
• Doubles XP gained by your tamed creatures while the player wears it.
• Keeps the durability of the original cape template.

Creature Backpack

The Sac à dos de créature recipe unlocks when one of your tamed creatures reaches level 4.

• Crafted at the Black Forge.
• Recipe: 4 Black Metal, 4 Linen Thread, and 4 Fine Wood.
• Equip it on a level 4 or higher tamed creature; the crafted item is consumed and permanently binds one backpack to that creature.
• Contains 15 manual storage slots and does not collect loot automatically.
• Aim at the equipped creature and press the configured key, P by default, to open it.
• Press E to close the creature backpack.
• A violet wisp marks a creature carrying a backpack.

Multiplayer

Install the same mod version and dependencies on every client. Keep shared progression settings identical for the smoothest multiplayer experience.

Installation

Gale or another manager

Search for Tamed Creature XP - Level Up in the Valheim community and install it with the manager.

Manual installation

• Install BepInExPack Valheim and Jotunn.
• Copy TamedCreatureXP.dll into BepInEx/plugins.
• Launch Valheim once to generate the configuration file.
