Transmutation Concentration

Transmute Mineral Ore spell re-imagined as a concentration spell.

Details

Transmute spell renamed to Transmute Mineral Ore to be consistent with the name of the spell tome.

Now a concentration spell. While continuously casting it, pieces of iron ore in your inventory will periodically be transmuted to silver ore. If you have no iron ore, the spell will transmute pieces of silver ore to gold ore. The spell will fail to take effect if there is no iron or silver ore in your inventory.

Transmutes one piece of ore every 2.2 seconds. Your Alteration skill level increases the rate ore is transmuted. With level 100 Alteration, the spell transmutes one piece of ore every 1.1 seconds.

Can be cast in either hand, in both hands at once, or dual cast with the Alteration Dual Casting perk. When cast in both hands at once, ore is effectively transmuted 2x faster for 2x the magicka cost. When dual cast, ore is transmuted at a rate multiplied by fMagicDualCastingEffectivenessBase for a magicka cost multiplied by fMagicDualCastingCostMult. This mod does not change these game settings from their default values of 2.2 and 2.8 respectively. You can use other mods that change these game settings if you wish.

Displays a visual effect resembling a flash of green light each time a piece of ore is transmuted.

Compatibility

This mod only changes the Transmute spell, so it is compatible with anything that doesn't.

This mod is provided in English only.

FAQ

Q: Wait a minute, didn't you already upload a mod for the Transmute spell?

A: Yes, but Vinis Smart Transmute Spell does something completely different. I remember seeing a comment asking if I could make Transmute a concentration spell. I thought that was a really interesting idea, but I didn't want to make such a fundamental change to the way the spell works on my existing mod. Therefore I created a new mod instead. They both do very different things, so I'm afraid you'll have to choose one or the other.

Q: Isn't there already a mod that does this exact same thing?

A: Respectfully to the author of Transmute is now a Concentration spell, I don't think it's as well implemented as this mod. I created my own mod because I thought I could do a better job. I would recommend comparing them for yourself and seeing which one you prefer.
