The long-tailed cliff racer is an aggressive, dangerous flying creature with a large vertical sail along its spine, native to the province of Morrowind. They are quite tough and will attack anyone in sight. Cliff Racers have good vision range, and will often detect and follow the player without being noticed. This can result in swarms of them descending upon the unwary adventurer.

Sometime near the end of the Third Era, the cliff-racers were driven out of Vvardenfell by Saint Jiub. However, they were not driven out of the rest of Morrowind, since Mjoll the Lioness remarks on how she used to hunt cliff-racers for sport with her father.

Now, with Solstheim becoming a small Vvardenfell, some Cliff Racers migrated to the ash part of the island, and can be found alone or in flocks of 2 or 3.

Besides the wild Cliff-Racers, you can also buy a spell tome (warden type), from Talvas Fathryon (Neloth apprentice), to summon a Cliff Racer. This Cliff-racer, while in combat, will call more 2 Cliff-racers to help him in battle.
