Colorblind Mode and Comfort Options

Easier on the eyes.

Colorblind mode and comfort options for Risk of Rain 2 that the game's settings don't have: switch to colorblind-safe item tier colors with the tier written after each item name, turn down the weapon recoil camera kick, and hide the constant level-up flashes of your drones and the death screen effect.

Also known as: color blind mode, accessibility mod, photosensitivity, motion sickness.

Already in the game

Settings > Gameplay / Video already has Screen Shake Scale, Screen Distortion, Motion Blur, Bloom and Exp and Money Effects. This mod doesn't repeat them; turn those down first if screen shake bothers you.

What it adds

• Camera recoil: how much your camera kicks when you fire, 0-100% (default 100% = normal). The game's Screen Shake slider doesn't cover this.
• Drone level-up flashes: hidden by default. Every drone, turret and ally flashes when it levels up; with many drones that is constant flashing. Your own character still shows it.
• Death screen effect: the full-screen color effect when you die is hidden by default.
• Colorblind-safe tier colors (off by default): red-green safe colors based on the Okabe-Ito palette: Uncommon sky blue, Legendary vermillion, Boss yellow, Equipment orange, Lunar dark blue, Void reddish purple. They apply to pickups, their beams and highlights and to item names. Item icon backgrounds are pictures and keep their colors.
• Tier word on item names (off by default): "Soldier's Syringe (Common)", "Brilliant Behemoth (Legendary)" and so on, so you never need color to tell the tiers apart.

Works everywhere

• Visual only and client-side: works in solo, local and online lobbies. Other players don't need it and see nothing different: when you host, item messages reach them in the game's normal colors.
• No keys. Achievements, unlocks and Prismatic Trials are not affected (nothing in the run changes).

Config

BepInEx/config/offtheclock.ror2comfort.cfg (created on first launch; r2modman's config editor works too):

• RecoilScale - default 1 (0-1)
• HideMinionLevelUpFlash - default true
• HideDeathScreenEffect - default true
• ColorblindItemColors - default false (restart the game after changing it)
• TierWordOnItemNames - default false
