BACKGROUND/LORE

ISLINGTON INDUSTRIES - PROJECT PYGMALION

STATUS: UNKNOWN

SPECIES NAME: MIMICORPUS PLASTICUM

PROJECT GOALS:

Synthetically recreate human life to address critically low birth-rate numbers society wide.

METHODOLOGY:

Utilise a recently discovered species, called Mimicorpus Plasticum, capable of reshaping it's biological DNA and by extension properties to incorporate foreign DNA. We believe that this phenomenon is employed by the species to mimic predators to avoid being seen as prey.

Initial screening and testing showed promising results. Subjects were contained in a preservation cell to facilitate the coalescence between the mimicorpus plasticum and human DNA in an attempt to recreate the birthing process of a human baby without the need for human participation.

FINDINGS:

The Pygmalion team were able to successfully kickstart the metamorphosis process of the MP, but the test subject mutated in an unforeseen manner. It seemed to maintain some characteristics of itself, while developing human features. The initial subject appeared to develop legs and arms similar to humans, alongside limited sensory capabilities (namely hearing). However, it seemed to create it's main body into a shape of a giant human ear. We tried to ''humanise'' it by dressing it in clothes, but we didn't predict the intensity that the organism would be affect by human hormones. As it grew older, hormone production facilitated severe aggression, violence and strength resulting in the subject breaking out of it's enclosure. We tried to contain it with ballistics but to no avail, resulting in the abandonment of the laboratory. It's current whereabouts are unknown.

ENEMY BEHAVIOURS

The Ear is an interior enemy that hunts exclusively by hearing. While having similarities with the eyeless dog, The Ear brings several new mechanics to the 'hunting by sound' mechanic. It can attack other enemies other than masked, it can become overwhelmed with too much noise (try shouting at it) and can destroy the environment.

Searching

The Ear wanders the facility.

Suspicious

Upon hearing a noise, the Ear will go to that area to investigate what the sound came from. The Ear is slightly faster in this stage.

Enraged

Upon hearing loud noises, the Ear becomes enraged and goes into a frenzied state where it attacks anything that it bumps into or makes a noise. Upon being caught, players enter a cinematic where their head is chomped off (if above 80 health). During this state, the ear will also completely destroy doors and attack any enemies in the area making noise.

Overwhelmed

The Ear is especially sensitive to voices. If it hears players within its hearing radius raising their voices too much or shouting, it will get overwhelmed with noise and become stunned.

Additional behaviours/features

• The Ear can be stunned by conventional means, and can be attacked and killed.
• Much of the Ear is customisable in the config, to allow players to adjust and suit to their playstyles.
