Sponge's Movement Tweaks

Swimming that is not a chore, and an optional launch jump.

What it does

Swimming. You swim faster and sink more slowly while treading water. Both are

adjustable and both are on by default.

The speed change works through the game's own movement system rather than

overwriting your velocity after the fact. In practice that means acceleration still

eases in and out the way it normally does, so entering and leaving water feels like

the stock game rather than snapping between two speeds.

Launch jump. Off by default. Turn it on and firing a weapon shoves you away from

the shot, so you can launch yourself by firing at the ground. It triggers on a round

actually leaving the weapon, not on the fire button, so a dry click or a shot during

a reload does not launch you.

When you want it

Swimming is for anyone who finds crossing water tedious — it is a comfort change and

most people will want it on. The launch jump is a movement toy: turn it on if you

want to get somewhere quickly and do not mind the weapon feeling different.

Keys

None of its own. Both features are always active once enabled, and its

settings live on the Movement tab in Sponge's Mod Menu, which opens on F5.

Launch jump

The force means the same thing regardless of your character's weight, so the number

does not need re-tuning if the game changes.

Multiplayer

Everything here affects only the player at your keyboard. Nothing is sent over the

network and no other player's movement is touched, so you can use it in any lobby

without affecting anyone else and without needing them to have it installed. Your

position is replicated by the game as usual, so others simply see you swim faster.

Compatibility

If something else is also changing swim speed, the two would multiply together into

a speed neither was set to, so one of them has to win.

You may find water slower than you expect if you also run a cheat mod. A cheat's

swim speed is typically far higher than the comfortable pace this aims for, and if

it stands down in favour of this mod you get this mod's number instead. Raise

Speed multiplier to taste — it goes up to 8 — or tell the cheat mod to keep

ownership.
